I was born in a suburb of Los Angeles, and have lived in California for most of my life. I took a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of California at San Diego.
After a short stint as an analytical chemist at a Kodak subsidiary, I moved to the San Francisco Bay area to work as a Staff Scientist at U.C. Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory , which is located on the hills overlooking UC Berkeley. There I did just about everything you can imagine possible to do with an electron microscope, and maybe a number of things you can't imagine!
After finding computers being increasingly applied to electron microscopy and materials analysis, I went back to school to enhance my background in computers and networks.
The dot-com boom was exhilarating and very rewarding. We are now in the down part of Silicon Valley's natural cycle of boom and bust. But hang on -- we are about to take off again on another wild ride!
I now live in the South Bay area of Silicon Valley, I'm a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and I work as a QA Engineer for a security software manufacturer.
